Positions held

During his academic training, he had the opportunity to attend a human anatomy course at New York University, where he achieved an "A" grade in anatomical dissection.

Additionally, he participated in the national exam for the Orthopedic specialization, ranking among the top 50 out of more than 15,000 candidates.

His clinical and research activities were conducted at the 2nd Clinic of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Zaffagnini. His training was enriched with two international experiences:

  • 12 months at UPMC Sports Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, under the supervision of Prof. Volker Musahl and Freddie Fu. Here, he participated in clinical and biomechanical research studies, focusing on meniscal transplants and repairs, cruciate ligament reconstruction, osteotomies, and robotic surgery, with special attention to knee injuries in professional athletes.
  • 6 months at Helios Endo-Klinik in Hamburg, Germany, focusing on knee and hip prosthetic surgery, including revisions and the treatment of prosthetic infections, with particular attention to the identification of joint infections.

Technologies

Deep knowledge of Windows and OS-X (Mac) operating systems. Professional use of Medical Statistics programs and Matlab.
Familiar with Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery systems, Surgical Navigation systems, and non-invasive knee laxity evaluation systems such as Kira and PittPivot App (Training at Pittsburgh University).

Contract Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology (MED/33 sector) and the Faculty of Exercise Science at the University of Bologna.

  • He has participated in numerous national and international research programs (including as a speaker at AAOS 2021, AOSSM 2022, ESSKA 2018,2020,2022,2024 ISAKOS 2022, 2023, and 2024).
  • He has published over 65 scientific articles in high-impact, Pubmed-indexed medical journals (H-Index: 14), and 10 in non-indexed journals. Author or co-author of 10 chapters in international textbooks.
  • Web editor of KSSTA, the most important European journal of knee surgery and arthroscopy.

  • Arthroscopy / Treatment of meniscal injuries (suture/repair), meniscal tissue replacement surgery (meniscal transplant and meniscal scaffolds) in cases of previous meniscectomy or irreparable injuries.
  • Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery.
  • Anterior cruciate ligament revision surgery (including osteotomy procedures for slope correction in case of increased slope).
  • Multiligament reconstruction surgery (posterior cruciate, medial and lateral collateral ligaments).
  • Patellar instability, patellar dislocations, femoro-patellar syndrome.
  • Tibial and femoral osteotomy surgery for the treatment of varus and valgus knees.
